To Put Christ Jesus First In All Things |
Along with Christians everywhere we believe that God is one. We believe that God has revealed Himself throughout human history in creation; God’s chosen people; the people of Israel; the Jews, through His prophets, and most especially through His Son Jesus the Christ. We believe that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to the end that all who believes in Him would not parish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 We believe that the historic creeds of the Church: the Apostles and the Nicene Creeds are a sufficient statement of faith and belief of Christianity. We believe that the Bible is Holy Scripture and that the books of the Old and New Testaments contain all things necessary unto salvation. We believe in traditional Biblical faith. We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the book of the New Testament and accept the authority of Holy Scripture as God’s revealed word written for our learning. We believe in the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as revealed in Holy Scripture and affirmed in the historic creeds of the church. We confess Jesus Christ as the one and only, unique Son of God, our savior and our Lord. We accept that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:10). We accept that sin is separation from God and that God has provided salvation from sin through His son Jesus the Christ who is the long expected messiah of Old Testament prophecy and law. We accept and believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and Life (John 14). All Saints is a congregation within the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida. The Diocese of Southwest Florida is a diocese in the Episcopal Church in the United States of American (ECUSA). The Episcopal Church (ECUSA) is one of the many provinces of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The Anglican Communion is part of the One, Holy, catholic (universal) and apostolic Church established by Jesus Christ to "go therefore into all the world baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have command you…" Matthew 28: 19ff We are painfully aware of and saddened by some of the decisions made by ECUSA in recent years that have fractured relationships with our sister and brother Christians in other denominations and that have, in some cases strained those relationships to the breaking point. We are deeply saddened and concerned for those within our denomination that have been hurt by these decisions and who have chosen to leave the church altogether. We have joined with the majority of the Anglican Communion** and pray for ECUSA to repent and return to the Lord. We join with Christians everywhere who pray that ECUSA will repent and return to its Biblical faith and roots. Therefore, we have found it necessary to produce this statement of belief to clarify and otherwise remove from the realm of doubt, for those who may desire clarity as to where we stand in issues of faith and belief. As a "traditional" Biblical parish we have chosen to affiliate with the American Anglican Council (AAC), which is a network of individuals, parishes, and specialized ministries and Episcopal Bishops who affirm Biblical authority and Anglican Christian orthodoxy. All Saints joins with other Christians worldwide in affirming traditional and orthodox Biblical teachings as well as the mission of the Church. We join with those associated with the AAC in affirming the following statement: The mission of the Church is, according to Jesus Christ’ Great Commission, to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). In a fresh commitment to that mission, we join together in common confession of the Gospel and in radical commitment to support one another in accordance with classical Anglican orthodoxy." * We believe: That God is One and that he has revealed Himself in scripture as the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That Holy Scripture is the revealed word of God written for our learning. The Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible; that Jesus is the unique Son of God. That all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. That we must confess our sins and return to God through His Son Jesus Christ. That Christian obedience is accepting Jesus as the Lord to whom all authority in heaven and earth has been given by the Father, and striving to live by Jesus’ Grace and teachings. That congregational Life is where corporate worship, Christian Community, discipleship, and mission are interconnected. That we ought to be involved in Mission and Missions: we must be involved in spreading the Good News by word and deed. In the sanctity of life; that all human life is a gift from God. All are created in the image of God and are given purpose to Love, worship and serve God. That we must welcome all persons to come and know the risen Lord and that we oppose all forms of prejudice and injustice. That we are called to serve as Christ served. In short we are to Love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves. (Mark 12:29-31) * see A Place to Stand @www.americananglican.org ** The Anglican Communion consists of 38 provinces worldwide. |
